MBA Technology and UNBR Technology

Cellex, Inc.
  • Technology Description

We have two platform technologies that could be used for developing inexpensive, sensitive, rapid and specific diagnostics including molecular assays (those for detecting nucleic acid analytes).

There are a number of unique aspects on these technologies.

First, they use chemical based signal amplification to achieve great sensitivity without using any enzymes. Second, they are platform technology (with potential for multiple uses and multiplexed assays). Third, once developed, it is inexpensive to manufacture and operate the assays. Finally, as far as we know, our technologies do not infringe any existing patent, which remove a huge and critical hurdle for commercialization.

  • Value Proposition

This is a non-PCR test that uses chemical signal amplification rather than molecular replication to identify targets. It is expected to produce faster and more accurate results than PCR at lower costs. The initial application is targeting the identification of organisms that are responsible for catheter sepsis. Use of this technology rather than waiting for cultures to identify sources of infection will help improve patient outcomes and reduce treatment costs.
This is going into prototype development . You could be a collaborator and influence the features of the final product, at no cost to you. If the development effort is as successful as we expect, you will be positioned to license the technology for your use.

Cellex is a biotechnology company that produces instruments and chemicals for the testing of human diseases and conditions. The company is currently focused on four product lines: tests for broad-spectrum bacterial, tests for viruses (HIV, HBV, HCV and HPV), tests for bio-terrorism agents, and tests for cancer markers. Cellex’s medical tests and equipment are easier to use, less expensive to operate, and can be completed in a condensed period of time. Clinical laboratories and physicians’ offices will only need one instrument and minimally trained technicians to perform nearly all medical tests that currently require the use of ten instruments and highly trained professionals.
