Humanized Antibodies Against a New Adenocarcinoma Target

ImmVaRx, Inc.
  • Technology Description

Labyrinthin is a unique and patented protein that has been identified on virtually all adenocarcinoma cell lines, tissues, and specimens and further constitutes a functional biomarker for detecting adenocarcinoma targets. Based on labyrinthin’s functional biomarker properties, ImmvaRx has isolated labyrinthin epitopes and their antibodies, which provide the basis for several types of diagnostics as well as therapeutics, such as a humanized anti-labyrinthin antibody, that work to target adenocarcinoma tumor cells and inhibit their growth.

  • Value Proposition

A humanized anti-Labyrinthin antibody bypasses the need for patients to raise their own antibodies and, in addition to diagnostic applications, in itself would conceivably be a therapeutic agent (as one of several optional forms: efficacious alone, or conjugated to a radioactive or chemical cytotoxin). This technology would provide an advantage over other antibodies because it is not limited to a single cancer type, but rather the broad spectrum of adenocarcinomas, which constitute approximately 40% of all cancers. Moreover, this technology lowers the risk of collateral toxicity whereby healthy cells are not attacked by this antibody as it is exclusive to adenocarcinoma tumor cells.
