Technology Description

DermAlert is a whole body skin imaging system used to find new or changed pigmented moles which are potential melanomas and superior candidates for biopsy. DermAlert is a software product that has recently been developed as an all digital tool using commercial grade digital cameras for image input. Follow-up images are registered to baseline images using a proprietary technique and the software allows user controlled display which emphasizes changed lesions and enables creation of a report which can be presented to a physician.

Value Proposition

I am calling on behalf of the National Institutes of Health. The NIH, through one of its small business grant programs, is funding the development of a medical software technology that uses digital camera’s to allow consumers to take pictures of their skin moles and monitor those moles using a home computer. This technology could also be used by physicians and dermatologists. Dermalert, Inc. has acquired exclusive licenses to products and contracts ngeotiated with Western Research Company of Tucson, Arizona. Western Research has developed patented, important new imaging products for allowing individuals at home or physicians to participate in body surface monitoring using popular digital cameras. This technology was developed with the assistance from the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases of the National Institutes of Health.
